In an effort to align with the S4PST mission to deliver an impactful portfolio of programming systems and tools for the DOE, we are pleased to announce the changes to the S4PST portfolio for FY27/28.

  1. New institutional member: we welcome William S. Moses, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, for his work on the Automatic Differentiation (AD) tool, Enzyme, and its integration with the LLVM compiler infrastructure. This work on differentiable programming transitions from incubation to core status in the S4PST portfolio.
  2. Julia/JACC work transitions from incubation to core status in the S4PST portfolio.
  3. OpenACC transitions from core to archival (no longer supported) status.
  4. Underfunded identified projects: Kokkos, GASNet, Legion, will have an increase in their budget.
  5. No changes to MPICH, OpenMPI, OpenMP, LLVM.
  6. Incubation projects transition to research projects. e.g., AI for HPC, Kokkos for AI, and are no longer part of the S4PST portfolio.
